Memoir

“God, I would not make a good missionary!”

Abigail was an experienced questioner. Despite struggling with anxiety, she always confronted her doubts head-on and found life-changing answers. But now, alone as missionaries in an area where many had never even heard the name of Jesus, Abigail and her young husband faced deeper questions and fears than they’d ever imagined.

“Memoirs are not usually my genre. I usually find them too poorly written to follow. But this one absolutely blew me away. Abigail is clearly a writer, and she has blessed us with her gift to tell, not her story per se, but the story of what God did among the Parvata people in India. The story flowed like a novel, but it was achingly, breathtakingly real…”

I read this book straight through almost without stopping. I laughed, I cried, I identified. Most of all, I rejoiced at the inspiring testimonies to the power of prayer, and to God’s amazing grace and faithfulness to transform desires, feelings, attitudes, character. And I learned a lot about India, Hinduism, and incarnational evangelism. Hidden Song of the Himalayas is a work of art with a purpose of the highest order.

“In this stunningly breathtaking book, as fast-paced and thoroughly readable as a novel, Abigail… introduce(s) us to a vivid cast of complex people trying to face their challenges… This book is, and will continue to be, a classic which shows not only how to do modern incarnational mission work, but how to live life wherever you are.”

Hidden Song of the Himalayas is a book about missions, yet it doesn’t seem to fit the stereotypes of successful missionaries baptizing thousands and establishing important institutions… Abigail… offers not only a lucid description of what happened, but often— and even more engaging—a look into the deepest crevices of her heart…
Hidden Song of the Himalayas is deeply personal and reminds us of the fact that mission is costly.
A tall stack of colorful hardcover books on a table indoors, perfect for library-themed concepts.
